Frequently Asked Questions

Where do REACH kids come from?
On average, there are about 80 to 100 children who participate in our Sunday and Wednesday evening spiritually-focused programs, and about 60 to 80 children who participate in our Tuesday and Thursday afternoon after-school programs. Most of these children come from the community surrounding the Echo Hills church building and are transported to and from the programs by REACH's two buses. Some are children of members of the Echo Hills church and are brought to the programs by their parents.

Helping the kids lead a better life is what it's all about.

What is it you plan to accomplish through REACH?
REACH is simply a tool used by the Echo Hills Church of Christ to carry out what is often called the "Great Commission". The Great Commission is a charge that Jesus gave to his followers after he was resurrected from the dead and just before he ascended back up into heaven. It is recorded in Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.' " Simply put, it is the job of the church to teach others about the good news of Jesus Christ. One of the ways that the Echo Hills church works to perform this job is through the REACH program.

How is REACH monetarily supported?
REACH is supported by the contributions of individuals and churches who desire to see the gospel spread in the Goodlettsville and Madison areas. God has already blessed us with the means to renovate parts of the Echo Hills church building and to purchase two buses. However, there is still a need for funds to help with the ongoing costs of operating this vital ministry. The total budget needed is $6,000 per month. Over half of that amount has already been pledged. Could you help make up some of what is still lacking? If so, please visit our donation page or contact us to find out how you can become a REACH supporter.

How many volunteers work in REACH?
Currently there are about 18 to 20 volunteers who help with our Sunday and Wednesday evening programs and about 10 to 12 who help with our Tuesday and Thursday afternoon programs. While it is a tremendous blessing to have this many dedicated workers, it is also true that our work could be even more effective with the help of even more workers. The more individual attention we can give to each child, the bigger the impact we can make in each child's life. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming personally involved in REACH.

Can I help with REACH as a member of another congregation?
Absolutely! A person does not have to be a member of the Echo Hills church in order to help with REACH. It is probably possible to assist in a number of REACH programs, especially the Tuesday and Thursday after-school programs, without having any conflicts with the works of other congregations.

Who is this Dave Senn guy?
David Senn, Jr. served as youth and associate minister for the Rivergate Church of Christ in Madison, Tennessee, for more than 11 years. As part of his youth program, David led the youth group on numerous door-knocking campaigns, conducting VBS programs for churches in several states.

In August 2003, he initiated a bus ministry at Rivergate to bring neighborhood children in for Bible classes. After an area door-knocking campaign for Vacation Bible School earlier that summer, about 160 different children participated in the VBS. Almost half of those children were bus riders from the community. David recognized the great need to develop a follow-up plan of action to bring the children to Bible classes on a regular basis.

In January 2006, David left Rivergate and decided to continue the bus ministry as a local missionary. The Echo Hills Church of Christ in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, already providing ESL classes as an outreach for the community, enthusiastically welcomed REACH Ministries to its facility. Previous teachers and workers in this program joined David at Echo Hills to support and help him continue this vital ministry.

David and his wife, Becky, have three daughters: Courtney, 12, Kelsey, 9, and Kacey, 5. He and the REACH ministry team are committed to outreach and the sound biblical teaching of God's Word to the children and families of the surrounding community.
