REACH Camp

REACH Camp 2010 was a truly great week of spiritual growth for our group.  Over 50 kids participated in the week of camp from June 13-20.  Our staff this year was a tremendous team of very talented and caring people who made the week memorable and special.

Our theme for the week was TRANSFORMERS.  The lessons focused around the idea of the transforming power of Jesus in our lives.  During our daily Bible classes, we looked at the transformation of the apostle Paul.  Our evening sessions focused on different ways that Jesus can transform us.  The conclusion to the week was a challenge to be transformed and become transformers of others.  Lee Fowlkes, from Bowling Green, KY, gave the lessons each night and also stayed with us all week and helped in a variety of ways.

The kids were once again split into teams and competed in various events during the week.  Our team leaders did an outstanding job with  their teams.  The also participated in team building exercises each day.  New to the camp this year was a low ropes course and a high ropes challenge called the Leap of Faith.  All of our kids tried the low ropes and many of them tried and succeeded on the Leap of Faith.  The kids also were able to participate in the zipline and giant swing.  What a rush!   Also new to the camp was air conditioning in the cabins!  It made the nights of sleep much easier.

At the end of the week, we had over 30 parents and other guests to join us for dinner and awards.  The kids performed some songs we had learned at camp and presented skits.  We presented several awards to the campers.  Some of these included: Campers of the Week - Dominique Allen, Jessica Owens, Jaquan Hall, and Raychaundra Bright.

Thanks so much to Lee Fowlkes, our volunteers, our supporters, and especially Gary Semanchik of the Camp Sycamore Creek Foundation for making REACH Camp possible.  Thanks mostly to God for His continued blessing of the REACH program.  For more pictures of REACH Camp 2010 click here.
